EXECUTIVE MANAGER: MARKETING SERVICES

Purpose: To manage and execute Growth and Retention Marketing strategies for Gautrain on behalf of the Gautrain Management Agency (GMA) and to manage the GMA’s Social Investment Programmes.

Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Communication or Marketing. Five (5) years communication and / or marketing management experience. Excellent networking skills and a proven track record of networking among a broad range of stakeholders. Ability to manage, implement, monitor and report on the success and attainment of ridership objectives of the marketing strategies. Harness and manage partnerships for the Gautrain and GMA as to add value to the customer experience. To manage and oversee service providers contracted to assist the GMA in the execution of their marketing functions. Contribute to the strategic intent of the GMA in general and the Communication and Marketing unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a cost effective and value adding Growth and Retention Marketing Strategy for the Gautrain as to grow ridership:
  • Develop a comprehensive marketing strategy to promote the Gautrain services.
  • Conduct analyses of cost effective advertising spend and financial implications of various involvement.
  • Manage and implement the strategy.
  • Revise and align the strategy in view of results, budget and strategic directives.

Contribute to the strategic intent of the GMA in general and the Communication and Marketing Unit:

  • Interpret the GMA’s Strategic Objectives and Annual Performance Plan’s indicators into marketing objectives.
  • Ensure alignment of GMA’s Marketing plans and messages with GMA’s Communication plans and messages.
  • Monthly, quarterly and annual reporting on the attainment of outlined objectives.

Manage, implement, monitor and report on the success and attainment of ridership objectives of the marketing programme:

  • Measure the effectiveness and cost efficiency of the marketing plan in view of actual ridership statistics.
  • Draft and submit reports to the Senior Executive Manager, Communication and Marketing on the findings of the monitoring.
  • Implement decisions by the Senior Executive Manager, Communication and Marketing as guided by the CEO and Board.
  • Monthly, quarterly and annual reporting on the attainment of outlined objectives.
  • Develop, analyse and decide upon effective and cost efficient monitoring tools and strategies to measure the marketing programme.
  •  Implement remedial measures in view of results and strategic decisions.

Harness and manage partnerships for the Gautrain and Gautrain Management Agency as to add value to the customer experience:

  • Identify possible partners as per the GMA’s Partnership Policy and Marketing Strategy.
  • Finalise Memorandums of Understanding with partners.
  • Manage partnerships and report on it quarterly.

Position Gautrain as a lifestyle option:

  • Develop, analyse and decide upon effective and cost efficient marketing tools and strategies to promote Gautrain as a lifestyle option.

Manage and oversee service providers contracted to assist the GMA in the execution of their marketing functions:

  • Determine the marketing functions to be outsourced and services required from qualified and competent marketing service providers.
  • Prepare specifications and budgets and assist Supply Chain Management in the process of outsourcing of functions and services
  • Manage motivations for Marketing Services’ Procurement process.
  • Manage the service agreements, output and deliverables, quality of services and invoicing of appointed service providers.

Manage the marketing budget:

  • Allocate marketing budget to various marketing activities.
  • Monthly budget tracking.
  • Report to Senior Executive Manager, Communication and Marketing on budget spend
  • Align budget items when necessary

Develop, manage, and implement digital media marketing plans:

  • Develop a comprehensive digital marketing plan in support of the marketing strategy
  • Manage and implement activities.
  • Review and report on activities.

Develop, manage and oversee relevant activations, exhibitions and events:

  • Develop activations, exhibitions and events plans annually with budgets.
  • Manage and implement the plan.
  • Review and report on results.

Oversee, manage and report on the GMA’s Social Investment Programme:

  • Ensure the effective implementation of the GMA’s Social Investment Policy.
  • Manage and chair the GMA’s Social Investment Policy Evaluation Committee.
  • Quarterly reports on SIP results

Manage relationships within the Unit to ensure synergy between marketing and Communication plans as well as with the Gautrain’ Concessionaire to ensure synergy in marketing messages:

  • Liaise daily with the GMA’s Executive Manager, Reputation to ensure synergy between the
  • GMA’s Communication and Marketing plans and messages.
  • Liaise when required with other units in the GMA to ensure alignment between services and messages.
  • Manage the relationship with the Concessionaire’s Marketing Unit to ensure synergy in Gautrain marketing messages and plans

Protect and grow the Gautrain brand

  • Ensure that marketing messages and plans are in support of the Gautrain brand.
