GAUTRAIN MANAGEMENT AGENCY WELCOMES AN ARREST BY THE [DPCI] HAWKS

MEC Vadi today congratulates the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) and the Gautrain Management Agency (GMA) for the speedy arrest of a former GMA employee under suspicion of attempted fraud, corruption and contravention of, amongst others, the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act and the Electronic Communication and Transactions Act (ECTA).
 
Good news for Gautrain’s airport travellers!

As per numerous requests from various stakeholders, Gautrain’s airport service (Sandton to OR Tambo international Airport) has been improved as from the 11 August 2014 with earlier trains in the mornings and later trains in the evenings.

The Gautrain’s airport service (Sandton to OR Tambo International) recently competed with the best in world on customer service and was consequently awarded the Global AirRail Alliance Award (GARA) for customer service excellence in Oslo, in May 2014.

Gautrain today announced several revisions to its fare structure which will come into effect on Sunday 1 June 2014. Announcing the revised fares today, Operations Executive in the Bombela Concession Company, Mr Errol Braithwaite, said that the Gautrain will introduce a multi-tiered fare structure offering discounts of up to 30% between peak “red” and off-peak “green” train fares while commuters in an intermediate “orange” period will enjoy a 10% discount from the peak “red” fare.

The Gautrain service continues to receive very high customer staisfaction ratings as reflected in the monthly Customer Satisfaction Surveys. However the system is under pressure due to the increased demand for the service leading to capacity problems and overcrowding during the morning and afternoon peak periods.
