Europay, Mastercard and Visa (EMV)
The EMV project was initiated to enhance the fare collection system of the Gautrain through the acceptance of bank issued and account linked contactless cards. This project was finalised and launched in November 2019 and enables Gautrain passengers to utilise the System using their bank issued contactless cards.
