During the technical planning and design phase the MEC for Public Transports and Roads Infrastructure will exercise his/her powers, in respect of the Gauteng Transport Infrastructure Act 2001 (GTIA) (as amended), to attend to the technical planning and design of a Provincial railway line. This is carried out in the following phases:
a) Determination of the route; and
b) Preliminary Design of the railway line.
