Environmental Impact Assessment Process

The EIA process consists of the following activities:


  • Determining whether an application for an environmental authorisation is required and who the competent authority would be.
  • Determining whether the basic assessment process or the scoping and EIA process should be undertaken.
  • Lodging the application in accordance with the relevant competent authority's application form.
  • Completing the required assessment, including public participation, and submitting it to the competent authority for consideration and
  • Issuing of a decision by the competent authority (authorisation or refusal).
